For IT administrators
If your network filters websites, allow www.opolyx.com, uvmfevpprvjszqxnfsuo.supabase.co (sign-in and live game updates, including WebSocket connections), opolyxgame-daemon-production.up.railway.app (the game server) and api.dicebear.com (avatars). Players who sign in with Google or Apple also need accounts.google.com or appleid.apple.com.
Google Workspace for Education stops students designated as under 18 from signing in to apps the school has not configured. To let them use Sign in with Google, configure access to opolyx in the Admin console, under App access control. Students can also sign in with a one-time code sent to their email.
For teachers and lecturers
A Monopoly-style game turns money decisions into moves: buy or pass, build or save, borrow, bid and trade. Students see the result of every choice within minutes.
How to run a class game
- 1Sign in
Open opolyx.com and sign in with Google, Apple or a one-time code sent by email. There is nothing to install.
- 2Create a room for each table
Open Play, pick a mode and set the seats: two to six players at a table, and Team games seat four or six. An account can sit in one game at a time, so a student at each table can create that table's room.
- 3Share the link
Copy the room's link and post it in Google Classroom, Microsoft Teams or the class chat. Students open it, sign in and take a seat.
- 4Keep the seats for the class
Rooms are listed in the public lobby, and a computer player soon takes an empty seat. The host can remove it with ✕, and then no more computer players join that room. Start as soon as your group is seated.
- 5Play
Press Start. A Blitz game ends after 25 rounds; Classic and Team games run longer. Every turn has a clock, so the game keeps moving.
- 6Talk it over
Finish with a few questions from the list below.
Lesson ideas
One game touches several subjects. Pick the one you teach:
| Subject | What students see in the game | Ask the class |
|---|---|---|
| Probability | Two dice: 7 is the likeliest total (6 ways out of 36), a double comes up once in 6 rolls, and three doubles in a row send a player to jail. | Which squares were landed on most, and why? |
| Financial literacy | A mortgage pays out half a property's price, and in most modes buying it back costs 10% more: interest in miniature. | When was borrowing worth it? |
| Economics | A complete colour set doubles the rent, houses multiply it, and in Classic a rising rent tax squeezes everyone from round 100. | Why does owning the whole set change the rent? |
| Auctions | A property nobody buys goes to auction, and the bidding opens at its list price. | Did anyone pay more than a property was worth? |
| Negotiation | A trade goes through only if the smaller side is worth at least half of the larger one. | What made a deal fair? |
| Teamwork | In Team mode two or three players share a side, pay each other no rent and win together. | How did your team decide? |
| Languages | Switch the site to the language your class is learning: the board, the rules and the chat follow it. | Which game words did you learn? |
| Culture | Halal mode plays without interest or gambling; Fortune puts Chinese brands and customs on the board. | How do the rules change the strategy? |
For probability and statistics, our game statistics page shows the results of 3,900 simulated games — compare them with your class's games.
